The Charter School Review Commission is created within the Department of Education to review and approve applications for charter schools overseen by district school boards.

The responsibility to review and approve charter applications is an essential role for charter school authorization.  Every student deserves a great school and ensuring that only those organizations who are capable of opening and operating an effective charter school should be approved.  Assessing applications to determine if the group has the capacity to do so is a challenging endeavor.

This manual has been created to serve as a reference for the members of the Charter School Review Commission to support members in this role.

This manual was created by the Florida Charter Institute with input from the Department of Education.
